Summer Activity

Ah, the summer road trip. Brings back memories, doesn't it? Kids crammed in the back seat, elbowing each other for more space, choruses of "are we there yet?" Our summer road trip took us up to Northern California to see family and friends. Just getting out of town was a big challenge for us. July seemed like a whirlwind of activity. Just in case the rehearsals and performances at the Eclectic weren't enough, I took on some new projects and finished up some others that had been languishing in corners and on shelves. I sewed table linens and a pajama top. That pajama top had been just a pile of fabric pieces for over a year. I finished knitting a wrap that I started months ago. It felt like I was at summer camp, having a blast, going from one project to another. Just without the campfires and s'mores. And how's your summer been going?

Sometimes you just have to get away for the weekend, right? Time to do nothing...just re-charge your batteries. One of our favorite weekend get-away spots is Catalina Island. Honestly, I think once the boat pulls away from the landing, my stress level drops a good 40%; nothing to do now but sit back, relax and watch the water and the sky. And just about an hour later, the boat pulls into this beautiful little harbor - you want to pinch yourself to make sure you're still in California and haven't somehow slipped the space/time continuum and arrived at some exotic island in the Mediterranean or [...]
